Larry Wainright

Larry Wainright began his career in the USAF as a Crew Chief on a KC-135 aircraft and remained on active duty until 1984 when he received an honorable discharge. He soon filled the void he felt when he left the military and joined the Air National Guard, from which he retired in 2003.

He started working at Southeastern Bank in 1984 as a Bank Teller, graduated from University of Georgia Banking School in 1992, and retired from banking in August 2013. Larry enjoyed banking people but unfortunately, banking has become an industry that is making decisions based more on numbers, ratios & percentages instead of the person. After almost 30 years, it was time for a change!

Derek has known Larry for numerous years and actually borrowed the money from Southeastern Bank to buy his first ambulance. Derek contacted Larry about coming to work for Okefenokee EMS, Inc. The vision was shared regarding job duties and job description and that continues to evolve!

Larry frequently says, "I have never worked for a company like Okefenokee EMS…. I feel guilty to enjoy my job as much as I do!! I am truly Blessed!!"

Larry, his wife Vera, and their youngest son, James, live in Hoboken, GA. They also have a son, Wil, and his wife Catherine that live in Hortense, GA. When not working, Larry likes to play in the vegetable garden around his farm. He also enjoys relaxing and spending time with family.

Larry can be reached at or via cell at 912-548-6151.
